Review of Cradle of Fear (2001) by Jacqueline D — 28 Mar 2007
Any fan of Cradle Of Filth needs to watch this film. Set in jolly old England, it's a low budget horror film about a rash of seemingly random, albeit horrifying, murders plaguing a typical English city.
As lead detective Nielsen investigates further, he realizes that these murders were far from random. In fact, he discovers that all the victims are in some way responsible for the imprisonment of child murderer and cannibal Kemper (played by David McEwan).
It seems as though Kemper is getting revenge on the ones who put him away. The trouble is, he's locked up in Fenham Asylum. Enter The Man, played by Dani Filth. He's Kemper's right hand man and he won't stop until the job is done.
The gore in this movie is great. And there's a lot of it. Someone gets their teeth knocked out with a hammer, another character's extremities are removed, a woman is stabbed in the eye with a broken bottle.
It's all there. Though this movie definitely has an above average cheese factor, it's intentional. Some of the sound effects used during the death scenes are so bad, they're comical. If you're all about a believable plot and a serious, no nonesense storyline, give this one a miss.
But if you're a Cradle fan who loves gore, tits and brutal murder, this is the one for you.
