Review of Cracks (2009) by John H — 20 Nov 2009
Into a cloistered environment steps an intruder who doesn't quite fit in with the well-established status quo, but who is strong enough to overturn it and reveal the hollowness at the heart of the local heroes.
Yes, you've seen this film before. You've seen it in schools, in prisons, and all kinds of close-knit communities, but rarely done as well as in Jordan Scott's debut. The sense of claustrophobia of these upper class inmates is overwhelming.
Nice work all round, particularly Juno Temple and Eva Green, the latter casting off the yoke of ex-Bond girl with some verve.
