Review of Coyote Ugly (2000) by Annie T — 07 May 2010
Coyote Ugly is a bit like a cocktail (which they incidentally don't mix at this particular bar). You get the rowdy, crazy atmosphere of the bar, a budding romance between Perabo and Garcia (Where have they been?) not to mention a great relationship between a girl and her father.
Perabo is very appealing as Violet, an innocent yet deceptively strong, aspiring songwriter who suffers from stage fright. I think many talented people can identify with having to overcome perfomance anxiety at some point in their lives and this is partially what this movie is about.
Personally, I wouldn't want to work at a place like Coyote Ugly but it might be fun to dance on the bar for a couple of minutes.
