Review of Cowspiracy: The Sustainability Secret (2014) by Allen G — 23 Apr 2016
Not a bad MOOOOOOOOOvie, eh? ha... ahaha ahahahha.... (kill me, I deserve it).
Another film guaranteed to be on any Vegan's watch list, Cowspiracy is one of the more solid critiques of animal agriculture that you'll find on film.
It's not perfect- I'd argue that some of it is plainly misleading (the discussion on water usage, for example) but it still says plenty that deserves to be taken seriously.
Unfortunately, the filmmaker goes off on a far less-interesting tangent by visiting a chicken farm and really, I just didn't care. Yes, it is sad that animals are slaughtered- Cowspiracy has much more to talk about than that and I don't think its, pretty half-hearted, attempt to squeeze in an emotional element to the discussion really dd any good. Cowspiracy is at its strongest when its ethical discussion is focused on the facts. Unfortunately, it's not always there but it's still a must-see, in my view.
