The term 'it was missing something' comes to mind when I saw this movie. No doubt it was fun to watch but all the fun bits were all at the end. Beforehand nothing much happens. It was great seeing Harrison Ford and Daniel Craig on screen together! Should have been in a Bond movie though.
Harrison Ford as a bad guy in Bond!! Now the potential for that movie is off the scale. Getting off track here though, so back to Cowboys & Aliens. It was a great concept with massive potential but it just didn't deliver.
The aliens weren't anything new to be honest. Hollywood seems to have left the grey alien behind them and have started to go for this more menacing soldier alien (look to Battle LA, Skyline, Super 8), which is not a problem when they use it correctly but it seems Hollywood is really struggling to make a good alien movie these days (Super 8 aside as I like that movie).
Bottomline, Cowboys & Aliens is very average and very much a Lovefilm movie.
