Review of Cowboys & Aliens (2011) by Dylan C — 16 Sep 2013
An underrated popcorn flick that delivers not only as a summer blockbuster, but also as an intriguing western. Daniel Craig is as captivating as any (non-Leone) Eastwood hero, and Harisson Ford still holds his guns as an aging badass.
While there are undoubtedly moments that will make some eyes roll (as often happens with such stories) the surprising amount of depth in the overall production takes an otherwise ridiculous B-movie concept and crafts something that fans of multiple genres can enjoy.
As a huge fan of both westerns and science fiction, I can honestly say that, while not a masterpiece, Cowboys and Aliens offers up a welcomed, genre-blending experience.
