Review of Cowboys & Aliens (2011) by Kevin R — 27 Jan 2013
Don't yank on it. It's not your pecker.
A man mysteriously wakes up in the desert with a strange object strapped to his arm and no memory of who he is. He wanders into the nearest town that is under the fear of a local cattle man that keeps the town operational. The strange man, in an attempt to uncover who he is, tries to free the town and help the townspeople hoping someone will know who he is and where he comes from. In the process, the town is attacked by aliens...
"Only two types of men get shot, criminals and victims. What type are you?".
Jon Favreau, director of Elf, Iron Man 1 & 2, Zathura, Made, and the upcoming Jersey Boys, delivers Cowboys & Aliens. The storyline for this picture is okay and reminded me of a poor man's Independence Day. The special effects were good and the acting was above average. The cast includes Daniel Craig, Paul Dano, Harrison Ford, Abigail Spencer, Buck Taylor, Adam Beach, and Chris Browning.
"What type of man goes around blowing up other men's cows?".
The action scenes in this movie were very entertaining. The acting, plots, and script were ridiculous at times, but the aliens were pretty cool, the fight scenes were awesome, and I loved the shootouts. I can't say this is a particularly good film, but it definitely is fun at times and worth watching once.
"Money makes you soft.".
Grade: C+.
