Dry, shallow, and unexciting, 'Cowboys & Aliens' suffers from a mismatched genre and misguided direction. Action stars Craig and Ford were treated as Western mascots in an uninspired desert backdrop where life (and the interest of the viewers) only depended on annihilating aliens.
