I'm almost ashamed to say that, on a personal level, this film is the least connecting of the three major films churned out by Sherwood Pictures. That's not to say that it's not compelling, moving, or even funny, but that it just didn't hit me the way the 'Facing the Giants' and 'Fireproof' did.

I'm not a father, and I'm fortunate enough to have a good one, so this didn't tug at my emotional strings the way it might Still, it's a well-produced picture, and can certainly be enjoyed by all but the most cynical people.

Let's face it: Sherwood Pictures is not your typical production company. They make faith-based pictures that have heart and humor while not pulling any punches when it comes to where they stand on matters of faith.

It may seem heavy-handed and preachy to the typical reviewer, but these are generally the same people that thought that 'An Inconvenient Truth' and 'Fahrenheit 911" were masterpieces.

There are no Hollywood stars in the picture, but the message shines brighter than a big name on the marquee could. It's really no wonder that these movies draw big numbers - at least compared to what their budget was - and they keep getting better.

This film is no different. With matters of the heart and marriage behind them, the makers decided to tackle fatherhood, and did a fine job of stressing the importance of the issue - including why we all need the guidance of our Heavenly Father.

Oh, and I love Casting Crown's song of the same title used for the film.
