Review of Courage Under Fire (1996) by Ross M — 03 Nov 2006
A little dissapointed with this I'm sorry to say. I thought this was going to be at the same level of quality as Basic, but I was sadly wrong.
The idea of the film is similar to the aformentioned 'Basic' but sadly it didn't deliver it as well. The story felt EXTREMELY slow at points, with very drawn out dialogue that wasn't terribly important that you know it.
The highlight of this movie is the acting. There is superb acting all round from the likes of Denzel Washington and Meg Ryan, but the star performance for me was from Matt Damon. This I feel is one of the best in-depth dialogue based roles rather than the eye-candy action ones.
Overall a slight dissapointment on nearly all aspects. The film had it's moments but these were soon forgotten about when the drawn out scenes of dialogue came around. This film could have been so much more.....
