Review of Couples Retreat (2009) by Dc E — 07 Feb 2012
I went in expecting it to be a bad movie, got my hopes up as it showed a lot of promise, then watched in horror as it came apart in the end. Still a solid movie, but could have been much better had it stayed on track.
"Couples Retreat" introduces you to four friends and their wives/girlfriends. One of them (Jason Bateman) comes to them asking them to join he and his wife on a couples retreat to try and save his marriage because they get a cheaper rate if they bring friends along. Antics ensue.
It was a shade funnier than I anticipated, to be honest. On top of that, the characters were likable enough and I was entertained. Sadly, once the fish out of water feeling runs it's course, you start to get a little bored. On top of that, the ending was just too neat and tidy.
