Yes, it was cliche-ridden and melodramatic. But then again, this WAS a movie about country music, so that's exactly what I expected. And while there were definitely plot holes, the cast more than made up for it with strong performances, particularly from Tim McGraw and Gwyneth Paltrow.
While the story and writing may have been lacking, I think that the acting and singing in Country Strong were outstanding. I was pleased to see Leighton Meester sing. Overall very decent.
