Review of Country Strong (2010) by Adrienne G — 19 Apr 2011
Country Strong had me at the trailers, and I also fell in love with the song, me and Tennessee, performed by Tim Mc Graw and Gwyneth Paltrow, the lead characters of the movie. But I must say I was disappointed in the movie.
It had its moments, but the screenplay seemed to be disconnected which I guess was the worst aspect of the movie. There was not much continuity, but just a bunch of scenes thrown together. Aside from her singing, not much was shown about the main character, Gwyneth Paltrow being strong, and the ending was hardly uplifting in that regard.
The first half of the movie seemed to show only her flaws and failures, and the last part did not payoff to make it worthy. What the movie did have was some pretty good music. Paltrow, Garrett Hedlund, and Leighton Meester all sang quite well and almost made this movie worth seeing only for the soundtrack.
