Review of Country Strong (2010) by Zack S — 15 Jun 2011

In case you didn't know already, I'm a fan of country music. I don't like it more than rock music, but it's definitely better than rap. Country Strong on the other hand isn't so great. It's a shame how excessive cliches' and unneeded melodrama ruin what could have easily been a five star film. Not saying that this movie isn't enjoyable. It does have a strong cast. It also definitely has many good moments.

Plus, the music is great and for fans of country music like myself, you'll definitely enjoy the music if you aren't a fan of the script. Which overall was the biggest problem for me. Cheesy melodramatic moments and several cliches' that could have been better executed. Plus, I predicted the conclusion 30 minutes into the film. Had this movie had a well-executed storyline, it could have been a five-star film. It still is worth watching though, although I don't care to see it again because it's pretty average.
