Review of Country Strong (2010) by Larissa P — 15 Jan 2012
This has all the trappings of a Lifetime movie gone country. But the movie works despite the many cliches of stardom and it's strenghts is the wonderful cast and a great soundtrack. Gwyneth Paltrow against type, plays the fragile country singer trying to revive her career she has the stage presence of a country star and proves she can sing.
To me the real standout in this cast is Garrett Hedlund(Tron Legacy), he has the charisma to be a leading man. The film does have a sluggish pace but overall, this movie works despite it's flaws.
