Review of Cosmopolis (2012) by A Z — 01 Jan 2013
Some very interesting comments about this movie, some as complicated as the movie itself. I found it quite simple in content, but complicated in design and explanation . Two parts of society; them and us.
Money and no money. Position of / or lack of power and superficial control and position of miss directed unrealized self worth they both contain. How similiar a position they both are how fragile and yet how incognitive of the other.
Both experience pain. Both have uncertainties, both have successes and failures but of what means and for what end. Sometimes hard to watch; David Chronenberg was brillant at placing certain truths on film.
David again and Don Delillo were brilliant at placing these truths into words. Simple controversies that are complicated to express were done successfully in Cosmopolis. Not an easy feat in a short film.
Acting was as good as its content. Brain throbingly dry which contributed to the story line.
