Review of Cosmopolis (2012) by Freddy H — 25 Apr 2013
Cosmopolis is a strange, messy, compelling, and beautiful film. I can see why most people don't like it, mostly because it can be very off-putting with its tone and inconsistent feel the film has overall.
It's a perplexing film, but I was drawn to it because of my penchant for enjoying weird films a lot of people don't like. It's an anti-capitalist film and a character study, and while I don't lean to the left in politics, Cosmopolis is a very interesting political satire, as well as a wonderful character study, in my opinion.
However, due to its inconsistent nature and erratic tone it has, it can be difficult to properly process the insanity of this lurid film. I enjoyed it, but most people will not for good reasons. Still, I love Cosmopolis and I think it's a very underrated film.
