Review of Corpse Bride (2005) by Joshuaeliasl. — 27 Sep 2005
This was absolute dreck. The uninspired, awkwardly inserted musical interludes masked the absence of a plot, or any real depths to the depressingly boring and empty characters. I predicted half of the plot developments, and when they predictably shuffled by on the screen I was wholly unimpressed with Burton's inablility to evoke any sort of fantasy.
The sets are dull and lackluster; the only warmth in the movie comes from the all-too-brief scenes of Victor and Victoria together. The titacular Corpse Bride was so poorly defined as a character that her prescence was seemingly unnessecary and defintely forced.
the script itself was so lacking and the dialouge so infantile and embarrassingly UNFUNNY that the weak gags Burton has his characters run through are poor respite for his failure to put a smile on the viewer's face.
The insultingly inexplicable and cliche ending is good for some incredulous comments. Unwatchable.
