Review of Corner Gas: The Movie (2014) by P J — 07 Dec 2014
A completely satisfying translation of the half hour sit com into an hour and a half feature. Too often these kinds of expansions fall victim to the temptation to spend lots of money because it's there or write lots of "red band" content because broadcast standards no longer apply.
"Corner Gas: the Movie" remembers what worked in the half-hour shows and faithfully expands them to a larger canvas. The plot meanders happily along for most of the film, then cleverly ties everything together in a spectacular crowd-pleasing climax.
It's not a deeply meaningful or groundbreaking film. It is a well-made, enjoyable evening's entertainment.
