Review of Corman's World (2011) by Brett B — 24 Aug 2012
An extremely warm look at Roger Corman, a man whose influence in Hollywood (somewhat unrecognized until recent years) has been considerable and undeniable. The sheer number of A-listers who, at one point or another, worked with Corman is striking; Jack Nicholson, Martin Scorsese, and Ron Howard are just the tip of the iceberg, and to hear them speak so fondly of their experiences with him is really quite touching.
The documentary also provides some terrific "inside baseball" about the economics involved in low-budget moviemaking, and some of the behind-the-scenes stories that are divulged are pretty fascinating.
CORMAN'S WORLD is essential viewing for anybody who is a fan of film and the personalities behind the camera who bring them to the screen.
