Review of Coraline (2009) by ?Ivil? ? — 31 Oct 2012
You could feel the style of Henry Selick, from A nightmare before Christmas and Neil Gaiman dripping from this film. It's creepy, it has good dialog, and the general animation is very similar, also the main character is relatable! Well if you can remember being a kid and feeling ignored as well as bored.
It retained the balance between being entertaining, suspenseful as well as unsettling very well. I do wish they explained more about 'The Other world' like what exactly it was and the mechanics of it.
Also I thought and wished that the doll replica of Coraline would have played a larger part instead of just being a way to spy on the real Coraline.I was glad that the voice actors suited there characters.
Overall a good animated film and worth watching.
