Review of Coraline (2009) by Zachary C — 03 Aug 2012

This is a movie that I didn't really think to be good per se. At least not for someone like me who was looking for something that was meant to be entertaining. I thought it was going to be like one of those disney movies with some sort of hackneyed love story. But no it was not. It was very creepy and in some ways easy to relate to and in others it was harder to relate to it.

Here are some good things zI thought about the movie. It was a very well thought out story. The artwork was amazing. But those are not what impressed me the most about this movie. What impressed me the most was that after seeing this movie again this movie seemed t have a little bit more on it's mind. What I mean is that this movie was in fact an allegory for drugs. NOw before you tell me I'm wrong just hear me out for a second. If you think about it. A girl with a curiosity goes and finds something that is an escape from all that is bland or annoying in her life. And then someone tells her that in order for her to keep having these pleasuring things she needs to give up something important in order to keep on living this way. But she denies it and even though someone had to tell her that it was all a very bad thing she realized that she had to quit as soon as possible. And that was the hardest part was trying to beat the addiction.
