Review of Coraline (2009) by Noah W — 18 Aug 2012
It's dark, too scary for little kids, but it's great for tweens and equally enjoyable for their parents and other grown ups. I love animated films that take risks, and this is one of them. Coraline is one of the most visually stunning films that has come along in years.
The stop motion animation from Laika studios is absolutely gorgeous. But it also has a very imaginative story, smartly written by Henry Selick adapted from Neil Gaiman's book, Coraline just about works on every level.
It's pure magic.
