Review of Coraline (2009) by Fatima%20 A — 20 Dec 2018
Released in 2009, this cinematic masterpiece took so many artistic risks and added a dark edge. With an immensely captivating plot and gorgeous visuals, the story was truly ahead of its time. Coraline Jones is exploring her new house when she finds a secret door that leads to a parallel universe.
Just when she thinks everything is alright, her Other Mother tries to persuade her to sew buttons on her eyes and stay forever. When Coraline refuses, the Other Mother goes after both of her real parents.
Adapted from the 2002 children's novel by Neil Gaiman, the film includes actress Dakota Fanning voicing Coraline and Teri Hatcher voicing both the real and Other Mother. The film is far from a positive Disney production.
Though Coralineï¿ 1/2(TM)s animations mainly attract children and teenagers, the film is more than appropriate for a mature audience.
