Review of Cop Out (2010) by Johnny T — 23 Feb 2011
A movie that makes little sense, is dumb when it's not being stupid and yet is still at times laugh-out-loud funny. There is enough ridiculous fun in the Tracy Morgan- Bruce Willis pairing as two of Brooklyn's "finest" to get many of you past the squirm-inducing stuff. Smith certainly does his thing here, delivering a film that's part celebration and part parody of the well-worn genre. Working with a full-on studio budget for the first time in his decade-and-a-half career, Smith is still making movies about guys just like him. If you're like me, diluted Smith is still better than no Smith at all.
VERDICT: "Matinée" - (Mixed reaction). These kinds of movies are usually movies that had some good things, but some bad things kept it from being amazing. This rating says to pay matinée prices to see at a theater or buy an ex rental or a cheap price of the DVD to own,.
