Review of Cop Out (2010) by Paul P — 16 May 2011
While maybe not a classic exercise in buddy cop fun, this flick sure has the action and laughs to at least stand in the shadows of the movies it clearly so lovingly admires, even while it is taking potshots at their by the numbers storytelling techniques.
Willis brings the Bruce, and plays the straight man, most of the time, to Morgans motor mouth, self confessed 'orally fixated' comic relief, while both are ably supported (almost upstaged) by American Pie's 'Stifler', who gets a few chances to really shine here.
Great Saturday night entertainment, for grown ups who appreciate a well delivered joke, good performances and have fond memories of the Lethal Weapons/Tango & Cash's/Last Boy Scouts of this world - it's what popcorn was invented for!
