Review of Cop Land (1997) by Paul P — 02 Mar 2008
Not particularly original, but really watchable none the less.
I find Sly a bit of an enigma... I don't usually think of him as an actor, more of an action star but then he does things like this and I have to give the dude credit, this is a great role for him and he underplays his part expertly. When you consider that he holds his own against Keitel and the De Niro quite easily, it makes me wonder what could have been had he chosen different roles llike this more often....
Whereas the story itself is not that mindblowing, the characters populating this flick are pretty interesting and well played. I particularly enjoyed De Niro in shouty mode which is always good value, especially the "go to lunch" scene which had me chuckling...
Overall, a solid flick that is very watchable with some nice work from the cast.
