Review of Cop Land (1997) by Jason D — 26 Apr 2008
It puzzles me as to why people don't like Sylvester Stallone. For nearly 30 years now, the man has consistently managed to write, direct, and star in a vast array of entertaining movies. Sure the occasional dud comes around, but for crying out loud, the guy can really do it when he wants to.
Case in point: Copland. Sly gained 40 pounds and did this film for free, and really shows off his acting muscles as a sheriff of a town made up of corrupt cops. He's finally tired of turning the other cheek and attempts to bring order to the town, but of course against a lot of push back.
The cast is stellar as it's a who's who of great actors and actresses. Terrific film all around in nearly every aspect. Loved it.
