Review of Cop Land (1997) by Rajneel S — 20 Jun 2008
A great film with one of the best casts ever in the world of filmic lore. The whole thing builds brilyantly and the suspense is so that you are riveted to the screen. The most surprising thing is that amidst such a fantastic cast - including Robert DeNiro - that Stallone gives the best performance of the lot. He is brilyant as the downtrodden sheriff and a million miles away from Rambo. Altho there really isn't a bad performance in the whole thing. The only little problems are that certain actors/characters don't get as much screentime as the rest but that is a minor problem and like complaining that there is too much nice food on a well crafted buffet. There are a few sopranos cast members who pop up in small cameos which lend the film extra points too. The end is great and makes the whole thing feel like a modern western. Plus when a film decides to include not one but two songs by the Boss in its soundtrack you just got to add an extra star.
An underrated gem that will just leave you saying 2 words....great....film.
