Review of Cop Car (2015) by Nathan W — 23 Sep 2016
Cop Car is intriguing and well-acted, which is enough to keep it on track even as it hits a dead end.
Two runaway boys steal a seemingly abandoned cop car, but their joyride turns sour as they are tracked down by the owner. The dark tone and sinister narrative of this film are enough to make me cringe, while moments of hilarity help smooth out the horror. Satisfactory character development and effective plot help evoke concern for the two young protagonists, producing just enough suspense to keep it interesting. However, the end is abrupt and unexpected, leaving too many loose ends and that feeling of 'oh, that's it?'.
This film is a nice short ride; worthy of recommendation, but unworthy of the mental trophy room.
