Review of Cooties (2014) by Lovro H — 01 Oct 2015
This is a highly entertaining movie! The movie's story revolves around a school in a town called Fort Chicken (I know, right?) where a 'cooties' virus starts when one of the students of the school eats a bad chicken nugget.
Then the student starts infecting other students and soon things get out of control. The idea itself is ridiculous and sounds very funny so I was very excited about this movie. The final product is just what I expected! You won't get scared, but you sure will find yourself laughing at the jokes the characters crack.
I particurarly loved the hobbit joked aimed towards Elijah Wood. The movie doesn't take itself seriously at all, and it would've be a damn shame if it did, so let's be thankful for that. The characters are all funny, some more than the others.
Everyone got enough screen time, but I was very dissapointed with how little they showed Jorge Garcia's character, who I thought was really hilarious. The acting is good enough for such a movie. Rainn Wilson and Elijah Wood stand out, but the rest of the cast, such as Leigh Whannell, weren't nowhere near bad.
The action and gore is satisfying, though the ending felt a bit anticlimactic. The movie is very well directed and it looks good overall. All in all, a damn great horror-comedy with some really funny jokes and characters, a good amount of gore, though an anticlimactic ending and a wasted potential when it comes to grown-ups killing kids.
I would recommend checking the movie out if a fan of such ridiculous concepts, but if you're looking for a more serious movie, I'd skip this.
