Review of Cool Hand Luke (1967) by Mark H — 12 Jun 2009
Not my favorite Newman film but you have to give him credit because he certainly makes an impact on you. As fun as it is to watch him escape on multiple occasions, at some point you just want to yell at him for getting caught every time.
The comradely between the prisoners is great and you find yourself rooting for him to not throw up after eating 50 eggs or to keep digging his dirt out of Boss Keene's ditch. They certainly don't make them like they used to.
His scene with two small African American boys is particularly charming.
