Review of Cool Hand Luke (1967) by Jonny P — 02 Oct 2009
This is definitely not what I expected from this classic Paul Newman flick. I enjoyed Newman's character (particularly in the egg scene) but overall, this movie was just a downer throughout. George Kennedy definitely deserved an Oscar for his performance.
There are a number of classic scenes from this movie (like tarring the road) but the overall story wasn't as good as I had hoped for compared to other prison movies (Shawshank, Green Mile). This will remain a one-time see for me, though I'm really glad that I had a chance to experience this classic.
