Review of Cool Hand Luke (1967) by Tim C — 19 Jun 2010
One of Paul Newman's timeless, classic, and best performances as a prisoner in a chain gangnamed Luke who keeps his nonconfomity intact amidst his circumstances. He is tested by his peers who learn to love and depend on his nonconformist ways to fight back against the man,and the officers and Captain who do their best to undermine, test, and torture Newman's Luke to conform.
"What we have is....failure to communicate." George Kennedy plays Dragline, Newman's buddy, who won an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor for the year of 1967. Dennis Hopper plays a supporting role too.
Before the joy of seeing the antiheroof the 70s, Newman brought it out early and it still continues to be enjoyed.
