Review of Cool Hand Luke (1967) by Philip S — 10 Mar 2011
Classically-stark & tragically-moving prison film with Paul Newman in a now-iconic role as the rebellious Luke, consigned to a dingy southern prison & placed on the chaingang by the slovenly & unbending warden (Essayed by the scene-stealing Strother Martin-).
Jam-packed with a cast of off-the-chart character folk, most notably George Kennedy in an Oscar-winning role as hulking alpha-male Dragline, who at first is at odds with Luke, and later becomes his staunchest ally.
For all you horny pervs, don't miss the car-washing scene--truly the stuff of wet-dreams!
