Review of Cool Hand Luke (1967) by Harry W — 04 Nov 2012
In what seems like a more modern-day telling of the story of Jesus Christ, Paul Newman pulls off the peformance of a lifetime as a prisoner who wont listen to what the others are forced to listen to, and therefore restoring hope to all of them. And George Kennedy pulls of his greatest peformance as the alpha prisoner who can't contain his anguish but diminishes it upon Cool Hand Luke's arrival.
The amount of symbolism in the film makes it an immaculate tale of asserting independence to give hope to even all those who watch the film. Beautifully Made, Shot, Good costumes and incredible acting all around, Cool Hand Luke is a film for the ages with a beautiful acoustic soundtrack to soothe the soul.
