Review of Cool Hand Luke (1967) by Nick D — 01 Aug 2009
Paul Newman is terrific as an antisocial misanthrope who puts everyone at odds with him while in prison. A top-notch production, all around. "Cool Hand Luke" perfectly captures the feeling of anti-establishment from the late 1960s that was starting to become apparent in the era.
Occasionally, the film's fresh unpredictability strayed a bit from the plot, but it was always exciting to watch. The naturalistic cinematography combined with a composure country score rounds out this fine film.
