"Go around here ,Boss"....."No.".
Most prison/gangster movies get more credit than they deserve, and this fits that theme.
This movie follows the Easy Rider type of movie. The main reason this movie gets so much respect has to do with the title....."Cool Hand." The only time Cool is in a movie title would make this a Woodstock generation picture and thus a generational picture.
Are Newman and Scott terrific in this movie, yes. Is the rest of the movie cliche, yes , especially the direction.
