Review of Conviction (2010) by Jerel Y — 14 Feb 2011
If you enjoy legal thrillers, you will like this film. it is all the more enjoyable because it's based on a true story of murder circa 1980 in rural Massachusetts. Hillary Swank convincingly plays the sister of the alleged murderer (Sam Rockwell), and she is so devoted to proving his innocence that she puts herself through college and law school just to be able to try to get his conviction overturned.
She sacrifices her marriage and many other things of course to do this, and there a nice flashbacks of their childhood so that one sees how close they were in this poor family where the mother had nince children from seven different sperm donors.
no spoilers here, but please Google the real story and final outcome to reconcile that with the film so that you know the rest of the story. very compelling and interesting.
