Review of Conversations with Other Women (2006) by Robin Y — 09 Jun 2007
Actors must love films like this where the camera is constantly on them, must be a real test of their acting credentials. 'Conversations....' is similar to Richard Linklaters 'Before Sunrise' in that it plays out in 'real time' a brief rendezvous between a couple who have some sort of history.
Difference being that the audience don't know what the history is in this film. The split screen took some getting used to, unlike say Mike Figgis' 'Timecode' which used a 4 way split screen but at least guided you which way to look.
Which is no bad thing I suppose, repeated viewings are likely to bring out new meanings. Not to say I would watch this again soon.
