Review of Conversations with Other Women (2006) by Alex M — 13 Mar 2011
How would you like to spend all night in bed with Helena Bonham Carter and Aaron Eckhart? Now's your chance. From the moment I saw her as Ophelia in Zeferelli's Hamlet in 1990, I was smitten. After this film that feels more like a one act play, you will have experienced all of the hills and valleys of the history, electricity, and perfection of both these souls.
I can't remember EVER seeing a film that's plunged me so deeply into the characters of a romance that I felt like I was IN the movie. Now I feel like she's MY ex, and that's a unique feeling.
There are so many things to say about this one, but I'll let you experience it for yourselves. The one other thing that bears mentioning is that I, personally, find people the most attractive first thing in the morning.
When they are asleep, have just been ravaged, or are at their most peaceful and vulnerable. This ENTIRE film is set between two characters in this state, and I found it enthralling. I'm not sure how I'll feel about it later because there were so many (intentionally) uncomfortable moments involved, but I know that I'll never forget it.
