Review of Control (2013) by Daniel R — 02 Feb 2009
I went into this not having any knowledge of Joy Division or Ian Curtis and do not really know that much more after coming out of it. However, if you like black and white, it was beautifully cinematized and I appreciated the use of the music.
Obviously there is a tragic ending to the story, so that came as no surprise. I particularly liked the way the story of Anika was portrayed, and I am always appreciative of a film that gives a believable 70â??s â??feelâ??.
If you are a die-hard fan, I cannot attest to whether or not the story will meet your needs, but I felt the performances were strong, especially Samantha Morton.
