Review of Control (2013) by The D — 28 Apr 2010
Biopic of Macclesfield born Joy Division front man Ian Curtis who committed suicide aged just 23 on the eve of their American tour. One of the most important musicians in British Music.
Shot entirely in black & white it chronicles the success & tragedies of his life. The two women in his life & his battle with epilepsy, then quite a new condition with unproven methods of medication & side effects.
It's quite dark but the emotions are brought to life well by the two leads Riley & Morton with good back up from the cast playing the band & management & a quite convincing Tony WIlson.
Worth seeing even if you aren't a fan as Curtis' influence will have had some part in at least one act you follow.
