Review of Control (2007) by Shaun M — 04 Nov 2008
Although ultimately concerned with the untimely suicide of Ian Curtis, Control is hardly a joyless affair, packed with plenty of wit and humour, as well as outstanding performances from Sam Riley, Samantha Morton, and Toby Kebbell.
Anton Corbijn's opting for black-and-white cinematography is hardly a gimmick either, making for a film that is not only emotionally resonant, but vibrant and beautiful.
