Review of Control (2007) by Peter P — 16 Mar 2009
Well done movie that totally gets across the feelings that Ian Curtis might have been feeling, the world just seem to close in on him and he did not know where to turn, sadly he chose the easy way out. The acting is great and the choice to film it in black and white was right on the money, making the landscape of england as oppresive as it could possibly be. It did seem kinda strectched out and a bit long, but overall a really good movie.
*Note - If you don't know much about Joy Division (or in some cases, nothing at all) then I highly recomend that you watch the documentary "Joy division" first, it will give you great incite into Control (it is kinda scary how close they made the actors and their performances to live footage of the band) and fill in some of the blanks that Director Anton Corbijn left out for thematic and tone reasons, plus it is a great documentary.
