Review of Control (2007) by Jarkko T — 06 Aug 2009
This is a moving portrait of the tormented figurehead of Joy Division, the late Ian Curtis. Again, as fits the way I seem to like my movies, it's very slow and it doesn't explain much -- the images (lovingly directed by Anton Corbijn) come and go, loaded with tons of odd tangibility.
You'll probably either love it or hate it, and the character of Curtis too, but if you enjoy your early dark punk, don't even think about missing out on this one.
