Corbijn demonstrates an acute understanding of photography as influenced by photography and an acute ignorance to photography as it could give true cinematic vision to the complicated, vulnerable life of Joy Division's Ian Curtis.
Control views more like an attractive visual reading of Curtis' biography than an original film work that includes portions of said biography. To know how to frame a camera is not to be a filmmaker.
