Review of Control (2007) by Josh H — 19 Mar 2010
I got this film for my 15th birthday, already being an avid Joy Division Listener, I was very excited to watch it. And I was blown away by it, and made me listen to all my Joy Division Tracks, over, and over again.
This film tells the tragic story of Ian Curtis, played Sam Riley. Sam Riley takes to the role incredibly, I do not know another person who can sing, act, dance and gain the mood of Ian Curtis as well as Sam Riley, he was born for the role.
The film is quite a loq budget film, it adds to the charm and grace of it. The fact that Anton Corjbin (The Director) put his house on mortgage just to fund it, just adds to charm.
The film is an equal delight, to anyone who is a Joy Division fan or not, true it enriches it if you are a fan, as the songs they play and use just makes the film perfect.
Control is definately no light viewing, its a dark and emotional film. Tackling a tear jerking story and various issues.
I cannot give the film any bad points. I can see why someone might not enjoy the film, as they would beleive it is too dark.
But if you can handle it,.
If you love Joy Division or not,.
It is an incredible British Film,.
To be treasured and viewed.
