Review of Control (2007) by Nemesis D — 20 Feb 2011

Although the true story is probably worth 5 stars easily, I wish the movie had been more intimate in some way. the subject is intimate, but I feel as if i'm watching the story from too far away or just the surface of it. the term showboat comes to mind. maybe i'm being much too critical, but i've always preferred that a band movie be more than an intense music video. I want it to go all the way, not meet me half way. this film is slightly above the average band movie, I would pick it over oliver stone's 'the doors' any day.

I am a joy division fan, but to the best of my ability I have tried to rate this movie as just that, a movie.
