Review of Contraband (2012) by Jared B — 02 Jun 2012
Mark Wahlberg is one of my top 10 favortie actors for a reason, no not solely because of his acting skills that are average in my books it's because he #1 picks only from the coolest of scripts, 2 has a very cool screen presence expecially as a tough guy. His performance in Contraband is no exception to those reasons. My first film of director Baltasar Kormákur's so I can't say much about thing's he's done prior however I will say that I will look forward when he once again directs Mark Wahlberg in 2013's '2 Guns' which also will co star another of my top 10's Denzel Washington. His directing style on Contraband reminded me a bit...And I said a bit.. of top 10 director Martin Scorcese and that my freinds is not bad shoes to be in. The casting in this in my opinion is a dream cast movie as such was in Scorcese's 'The Departed' Not only with Wahlberg being in this we also have Ben Foster (yet another actor who is just shy of making my top 10) the very under rated Giovanni Ribisi and rounding off the dream cast is Kate Beckinsale who I have never seen in a gritty drama such as this and I think she pulled it off amazingly as Mark's wife in this. This will be eventually on my blu ray shelves as a film i'll be able to watch over and over again...Terrific!
